This history has endured in the monuments of Istanbul and the frescoes of cave churches in Cappadocia. On a recent visit I explored both of these places and came away with with a better understanding of Turkey’s historic legacy and perhaps some insight into its contemporary challenges. All along, I was enchanted by the friendliness of the people, the richness of the culture and the beauty of the land.
Below are links to images that I hope capture some of the spirit of Turkey today. It is a prosperous, proud country that is not without challenges. But change and challenge are hardly new in this ancient land.
